ACADEMY ADMISSIONS: SAT/ACT SCORE

While most colleges are going away from standardized test score requirements, the Academies hold steady: the SAT/ACT is a requirement. Even more so, its more highly valued than the GPA.

What the?!?!? Yes, its true, the SAT/ACT score is more highly valued than your GPA. This doesn’t mean your GPA doesn’t matter, because it does! However, in the Academy’s proprietary scoring system, the SAT/ACT is given a higher weight.

We call this an Academy “hack” because if you know the formula, you can prepare to win. Get into a class one year earlier than you planned to. Pursue a tutor and take the SAT/ACT 2-3 times more than you thought you should.

Here’s another trick: the Academies automatically superscore, and they don’t penalize you for taking it multiple times. So take it early, and take it often! If you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior, you should be approaching the SAT/ACT as the most important “class” you take!
