ACADEMY ADMISSIONS: YOUR CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

With Academy admissions, your district could be your destiny. If you live near Fort Bragg, NC, then it could be very competitive to get a West Point appointment, given the amount of Army children likely to apply. However, if you live in the middle of Nebraska, where there are no military bases, in a blue collar area, then there are likely few Academy applicants. It’s an inequitable process, but that’s the reality of it.

BUILD RELATIONSHIPS EARLY!

When your application opens, you are assigned a Liaison Officer. Your Liaison Officer’s job is to be the “eyes and ears” of admissions on the ground. They will interview you and send a report to admissions. This interview score matters a ton. So, the key is relationship building. You want to build rapport before the interview happens.

ACADEMY ADMISSIONS: BOYS/GIRLS STATE

Academy admissions highly value getting selected for Boys/Girls State. So much so, that we believe there is not a single thing you can do that would score more points for your Academy application than Boys/Girls State. We call it a “hack” because there are many activities (i.e. Eagle Scout/Gold Award) that take years of effort to obtain, but with this one, you can score likely the equivalent amount of points with only one week’s worth of investment.
