DR. HEATHER WILSON, USAFA GRADUATE

Dr. Heather A. Wilson, USAFA Class of 1982, was the first woman veteran in American history to serve in Congress.

A distinguished graduate, Wilson was in the third USAFA class to admit women. Wilson was a Rhodes Scholar with master’s and doctoral degrees in international relations from Oxford University in England. As an officer, she worked with NATO allies and in the United Kingdom. Wilson later went on to become the 24th Secretary of the Air Force and now serves as president of the University of Texas at El Paso.
