WAITING FOR A MEDICAL WAIVER?

You’re waiting to hear if you’re granted a waiver. What should you do?

The way to win waivers is through medical records.

Step 1: Read your medical records pertaining to disqualifying codes

Step 2: Look at date of latest record

Step 3: If latest record is 1) more than 6 months old, 2) does not clarify that you are 100%, and 3) does not recommend you for military service and waiver, then you need new documentation.

Return to your current physician for new report, or identify a physician with a military background in your area (use Google).

Ask them to answer these 5 questions in the report:

1. Is the condition progressive?

2. Is the condition subject to aggravation by military service?

3. Will the condition preclude satisfactory completion of prescribed training and subsequent military duty?

4. Will the condition constitute an undue hazard to the applicant or to others the applicant will be charged in leading, particularly under combat conditions?

5. Will the condition inhibit the applicant from being world-wide deployable upon graduation?

Then send that bad boy into DODMERB ASAP!

This is the way to maximize your chances.
