USNA TRADITION: HALLOWEEN CONCERT

It not always drills, studying and standing at attention at the military academies.

At the U.S. Naval Academy, Halloween is the setting for one of the most anticipated events of the year, the USNA Halloween Concert. The tradition of the annual Halloween concert was birthed in 1997 by Monte Maxwell, the Academy Chapel Organist, during his first year at the Academy.

The concert has become an experience filled with supernatural light, drama, and dance. As they convey a story of the battle and triumph of good over evil and All Saints’ Day, midshipmen showcase their talent in the transformed Chapel. Any midshipmen interested in auditioning does so in the beginning of September and only about half make the cut. Rehearsals began as soon as the cast is selected.

Happy Halloween All! Stay Safe!
